Reproductive System
Stingray reproduction occurs in the winter. When a male is cording a female, he will bite or nip at her pectoral disk (her body), the female holds the embryos in the womb without a placenta. There is typically two litters of 4-9 a year. The gestation period is usually four months.
The life span of stingrays is about 15-25 years.
Stingrays spines have been used to create weapons, such as spears and arrow heads.
Stingrays are also counter shaded, dark on the top and light on the bottom.
